Oy DUROY Ab
High-quality makeup brushes favored by professionals expanded into consumer sales in Finland in the 1990s with the launch of Duroy. The first consumer sales started at Stockmann Department Store in Helsinki, and today, in addition to consumers Duroy's beauty tools are used by all makeup and cosmetology schools, cosmetologists, and makeup artists nationwide and abroad.
The company roots in 1890'
Duroy was originally Durchmann Rohdos Oy and Duroy was a brand for company's cosmetics f.ex powders.
In the 1970s, the competition in the cosmetics industry intensified, and cosmetics production was sold, and the wholesale and beauty tools division was formed in 1974. The new company was named Oy Duroy Ab after the old Durchmann Rohdos Oy's brand.
Initially, the company imported not only beauty products but also French Givenchy perfumes, sunglasses, and hair accessories.
Oy Duroy Ab remained a family business so until the end of 2020. During the 45-years in business Duroy did pioneering work as a Finnish beauty company, making 'Duroy' a well-known and trusted brand name.

Duroy is in the makeup brushes
Reasonably priced Duroy® brushes are of high quality. A significant portion of the brushes are handmade in Germany, designed in Finland. Small amount of our selection is produced in Korea and China. The Duroy® brand is registered throughout the EU.
Most of the Duroy® brushes are designed by the company, while others are sourced from factory sales collections and customized as needed to fit the company's selections. Additionally, Duroy's range includes brushes designed by Finnish legend, makeup artist Ms. Raili Hulkkonen, Body Painting World Champion Ms. Riina Laine, and Creative Makeup World Champion Ms. Jasmiina Walters. These are just examples of the brushes which are custom-made and -designed.
The makeup brushes still use both genuine and synthetic hair. Genuine hair has scales, like hair, that bind color well. However, new synthetic hairs are almost as good as genuine hair. Most brush types in Duroy's selection are available in both genuine and synthetic options. The hairs used in the brushes are sourced responsibly, with ethical principles, and are certified. Similarly, the wood used in these brushes is FSC certified. The responsibility principles of new suppliers are assessed, and information on old suppliers is updated regularly.
